Robert Mapplethorpe's major retrospective exhibition will make its Canadian premiere at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts on Saturday, September 10th. Organized by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the J. Paul Getty Museum, in collaboration with the Robert Mapplethorpe Foundation and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the work in the exhibition is drawn from the two institutions' 2011 landmark joint acquisition of Mapplethorpe's work and presents 250 photographs along with objects, drawings, and documents from the photographer’s archives.
