For the Premiere Sector of Art Basel Switzerland 2026, Magenta Plains presents a curated group exhibition of new works by Josephine Meckseper, Jennifer Bolande, and Liza Lacroix. Through photography, mixed-media sculpture, and painting, each artist challenges the viewer’s embodied experience, confronting expectations generated by dualities such as masculine and feminine, objective and phenomenological, canonical and contemporary. Mirrored surfaces, fragmentation, spatial illusion, and distortion operate throughout as both formal strategies and psychological thresholds, activating spaces between concealment and revelation, interior and exterior, audience and performer. The exhibition centers the female experience as both a site of reflection and power struggle, exploring signifiers of desire and spectacle.
