| Hidden Treasures Drive the Contemporary Art Evening Auction Total to £88 million |

Sotheby's Contemporary Art Auctions achieved a combined total of £104.5 million.
The Evening Auction realised a total of £88 million led by Gerhard Richter's cherished work Wand (Wall), which achieved £17.4 million. A striking red and yellow canvas from Andy Warhol's iconic Mao series sold for £7.6 million. Two-thirds of the works offered had never been seen at auction including Cy Twombly's Untitled (Rome), Alberto Burri's Rosso Plastica, Lucian Freud's Head on a Green Sofa and Frank Auerbach's rediscovered masterpiece Morning - Mornington Place. |
