Property from a Private American Collection drove Sotheby's Impressionist & Modern Art Evening Sale to a total of $219 million on Wednesday night. Picasso's spectacular canvas, Le Sauvetage, was the top lot of the week, achieving $31.5 million, more than doubling its price when sold at Sotheby's in 2004. Three works by Monet totaled $28 million, led by Le Pont japonais that sold for $15.8 million. Monet's Sur la falaise à Pourville achieved $8.2 million, surpassing its high estimate of $7 million. 11 works from the estate of Jan Krugier brought $32.9 million, in excess of their $26.8 million high estimate. The group was led by Giacometti's
