Art Impressionniste et Moderne
|
This sale is crowned by Amedeo Modigliani's majestic Portrait of Paul Alexandre from 1911/12. Portraying Modigliani's first and most significant patron, this fresh-to-the-market painting has remained in Paul Alexandre's family since its completion and has rarely been seen in public.
It is joined by large-scale masterpieces from some of the greatest artists of the last century: Le Peintre et son modèle by Pablo Picasso, Personnage, oiseau by Joan Miró, as well as an iconic Cubist still life by Georges Braque. The Surrealist section of the sale features masterworks from René Magritte, Francis Picabia, André Masson, Max Ernst and Salvador Dalí.
